Enforcing Child Support Orders

Enforcement Remedies

Once a child support order is obtained, our office will enforce the order if the noncustodial parent does not pay as ordered. The goal of our office is for parents to make voluntary payments; however, some parents do not. When this happens, Adams County Child Support Services (CSS) has been given legal authority to collect court-ordered payments through certain remedies. Some of the enforcement remedies that we use include:

  • Administrative offset
  • Bank garnishment
  • Contempt
  • Credit bureau reporting
  • Driver's license suspension
  • Federal prosecution
  • Federal tax offset/li>
  • Income assignment
  • Judgments
  • Liens
  • Lottery intercept
  • Passport denial
  • Professional occupational license suspension
  • Recreational license suspension
  • State revenue tax offset
  • State vendor offset
  • Unemployment garnishment
  • Worker's compensation benefit garnishment
