In November 2012, the voters of Adams County approved an increase of the number of elected commissioners from three to five. The voters also determined that the members of the board shall be residents in districts and each elected by the voters of the whole county.
In accordance with C.R.S. 30-10-306, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) held a public hearing on May 22, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hearing Room of the Adams County Government Center, 4430 S. Adams County Parkway, Brighton, CO – 1st Floor to consider three alternatives for the new boundaries establishing five commissioner districts. The final map of the five commissioner district boundaries was selected by the BOCC on June 26, 2013.
In 2014, there will be three BOCC seats up for election/re-election. As required by C.R.S. 30-10-306.5, one seat will have a two-year term in order to stagger the terms for the five seats, and this seat will be determined by the BOCC during this process. In 2016, three of the commissioner seats will be up for election / re-election, one of which will be for the seat with the initial two-year term.

New Commissioner District Map Adopted September 28, 2011
Pursuant to C.R.S. 30 10 306, after each federal census of the United States, each County Commissioner District shall be established, revised, or altered to assure that such districts shall be as equal or nearly equal in population and compact as possible based on such census.
In accordance with C.R.S. 30-10-306, a public hearing was held on August 24, 2011 where four alternatives and public testimony was presented. On September 28, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. the Board of County Commissioners adopted the district boundaries map which became effective immediately.
The four alternative County Commissioner District Maps were placed on the county website and published in local newspapers. The formal public comment period ended on September 21, 2011.
