Lowell Boulevard Improvements

Lowell Blvd.

Project Overview

This project will widen 0.7 miles of Lowell Boulevard, between 62nd Ave. to Clear Creek, to accommodate a center two-way left-turn lane between 56th Ave. and south of the railroad crossing, curb, gutter and sidewalk on both sides of the street. Adams County awarded the project to Jalisco International Inc. in October 2018 for $3.76 million. Project completion is anticipated in fall 2019.

Project Update

Oct. 26 - Nov. 6 (Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m).
Lowell Boulevard closed to through traffic between West 56th Way and West 62nd Avenue
Lowell Boulevard will be closed to through traffic between West 56th Way and West 62nd Avenue. During the full closures, the contractor will replace concrete and install pedestrian improvements near the railroad tracks.

A full road closure is required due to the proximity of the work near several railroad crossings and the interaction with train detection equipment. Emergency access will be provided through the work zone. Access will be maintained to all homes and businesses on either side of the tracks. Local traffic should follow flagger instructions.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. The project website, hotline, and message boards placed on the corridor will provide the latest closure schedule information.

Signed detour routes are as follows:

Northbound Lowell Boulevard

  • Turn right (east) on West 54th Avenue
  • Turn left (north) on Federal Boulevard
  • Turn left (west) on West 64th Avenue

Southbound Lowell Boulevard

  • Turn left (east) on West 64th Avenue
  • Turn right (south) on Federal Boulevard
  • Turn right (west) on West 54th Avenue
