The Surrender Process
If you live in unincorporated Adams County or the cities of Thornton, Northglenn, Commerce City, Federal Heights, Lochbuie, or the Town of Bennett and need to surrender your pet to the shelter, you can bring the animal in for a release fee. Release fees vary depending upon species, age, and adoptability of the animal. Call the shelter directly for more information.
Euthanizing an Animal
Animals from the same areas that need to be euthanized can also be brought into the shelter for this service up to one hour prior to closing during our regular business hours. The fee for euthanasia is $50 and, if you wish for the shelter to dispose of the body after the procedure, there is an additional fee of $35. If you wish to arrange for private cremation after euthanasia, the shelter staff can assist you with a referral for this service.
