    IECRM is the largest electrical apprenticeship school serving Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska, with over 275 member contractors and industry partners. The contractors present are offering entry level positions to become an electrical apprentice, as well as higher level positions for anyone with experience looking for work. An estimated 300+ full-time positions are available.

    Adams County Workforce & Business Center will be present to help job-seekers learn about grant funding opportunities to help them begin an electrical apprenticeship.

    WHAT:
    DRCOG recently won a major EPA grant, the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant(CPRG), to develop and implement ambitious plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution.

    WHO:
    The Denver Regional Council of Governments(DRCOG) is a planning organization where local governments collaborate to establish guidelines, set policy, and allocate funding in the areas of transportation and personal mobility, growth and development, and aging and disability resources.

    WHY:
    We want to foster transparency in the grant process and hear what strategies have worked well for communities to ensure equitable outcomes for pollution reduction strategies.

    Adams County is hosting a Veterans Salute Ceremony this Friday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m., at the Adams County Veterans Memorial at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton. If attending, please park in the designated parking lot and follow the trail to the Veterans Memorial. Parking at the memorial will be reserved and only available with passes. There will be handicap parking available at the Adams County Museum and shuttles to the memorial.

    We will also be livestreaming the ceremony on our Facebook page.

    Let your voice be heard! Connect with other youth poets and poetry lovers from across Adams County at Anythink's first Youth Poetry Slam, hosted by Poet Laureate Kerrie Joy. Participants will compete in front of a live, supportive audience with cash prizes available for the top three poets. Whether participating in the slam or cheering on competing poets, enjoy music, food and a shared love of the written - and spoken - word.

    Slots in the poetry slam are limited; registration is required. Registration is not required to cheer on the poets.

    Rules for the slam:

    1. Each poem must be original to the participating poet.
    2. Each poet has three minutes to read one poem. There will be a 10-second grace period. If the poet goes overtime, points will be deducted from the total score by the scorekeeper. For every 10 seconds passed overtime, 0.5 points will be deducted from the total score.
    3. The poet may not use props, costumes, pre-recorded/taped music or musical instruments while performing. Performers are allowed to sing, beatbox and make any other sounds with their bodies during the performance.
    4. In the event of a tie, the top two poets will face off in a final round, so poets should come prepared with at least two original poems.

    Adams County will host its tenth annual 5K race, and 1 mile fun run on Saturday, May 4, at Riverdale Regional Park, home to the Adams County Fair. Registration opens at 6:45 a.m. and the 5k race starts at 7:30 a.m. The Fun Run will start 30 minutes later at 8 a.m.  Proceeds from the Foster Care 5K race will benefit the Foster Families of Adams County.

    • Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the overall top three male and female finishers.
    • Course: 5K course through scenic Riverdale Regional Park
    • Registration Fee Includes: T-shirt to 5k pre-registrants; post registrants while supplies last; multiple water stops, and post race goodie bags.

    Kick off your Independence Day celebrations early at the annual Stars & Stripes event. Food and beer vendors will begin serving at 4 p.m. Live entertainment with country singer Thomas Mac begins at 7:30 p.m. The night will end with musical fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

    Parking at Riverdale Regional Park is free. For the safety and comfort of your pets, please do not bring animals into the park for the Stars & Stripes event. Visitors are kindly reminded that most fireworks are illegal in Adams County; please leave fireworks of any type to the pros.
