Adams County government offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19, in observance of Presidents' Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Dog Licensing


All dogs over six months of age that reside in unincorporated Adams County are required to have a dog license. A current rabies vaccination certificate is required, as well as a certificate of spay or neuter if applicable. The license will be valid for one year. A dog license is free if the dog is spayed or neutered and current on rabies vacccination. The cost for an unspayed or unneutered dog is $25.

You may apply for a license in person at the Adams County Animal Shelter. The hours are:

  • Monday - Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
