Adams County buildings - including the Government Center, Human Services Center, and Motor Vehicle locations - are now open Tuesday-Friday, 7 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Some departments are open by appointment only. Find modified office hours here.

Clerk & Recorder Resources

Adams County offices are closed to the public through Monday, June 1. During the closure, the Elections, Motor Vehicle, and Recording departments will work remotely and continue to provide many of our core services. Beginning Tuesday, June 2, the Motor Vehicle and Recording Departments will open by appointment only. Information on how to schedule an appointment will be provided soon.

These departments will also begin observing the county's new operating schedule:

Mondays, Closed
Tuesday-Thursday, 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.*
*Motor Vehicle appointments will be available 7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
*Recording appointments will be available 7:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Most county buildings will observe the new schedule, with some exceptions--including the Elections Department.

Elections
The Elections Office will be open to the public on Monday, June 1. To best serve our residents during the 2020 State Primary Elections cycle, business hours will remain Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The State Primary is on Tuesday, June 30. Beginning on Tuesday, July 7, the Elections Department will observe the county's new, 4-day operating schedule

The public Logic and Accuracy Test for the State Primary will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, May 27. It will be live-streamed on the Clerk & Recorder's Facebook page

Voters can update their registration or register to vote anytime at GoVoteColorado.gov. A valid ID is required to register online. If you do not have a valid ID, you’ll need to fill out the registration form available here.

Motor Vehicle
Beginning Tuesday, June 2, Motor Vehicle offices--with the exception of the Aurora branch--will be open by appointment only. Information on scheduling an appointment will be posted soon. For now, the Aurora Branch will remain closed.

The majority of Motor Vehicle services are available at myDMV.colorado.gov. The website also includes many services not handled by the Adams County Clerk & Recorder, including driver’s license services.

Renewing a registration can also be completed at any renewal kiosk. There are currently four kiosks located in King Soopers across the county. Visit our website for a list of locations.

Late fees will be waived during this time.

If you’re unable to register online because proof of insurance or proof an emissions test are needed, please contact our call center at 720.523.6010. Our service center is open from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Note: If you have a copy of your emissions test or insurance card, please email it to MVServiceCenter@adcogov.org before you call in. This will expedite the process.

Throughout this closure, we’re working with Sheriff Reigenborn and local law enforcement to request leniency for expired tags during this time. This does not ensure drivers will not be ticketed; that is still up to the discretion of the officer.

Recording
Beginning Tuesday, June 2, the Recording Department will be open, by appointment only, for these services: 

  • Issuing Marriage/Civil Union Licenses
  • Large or urgent document recordings that cannot be mailed

Documents can still be sent for recording via mail/Fed Ex/UPS or through eRecording

Recording Services Fees
Letter or legal-size documents:

  • First page of each document: $13
  • Each additional page: $5

Documentary Fees
A state documentary fee is assessed only on documents conveying real property. If the sales consideration is:

  • Greater than $500: $0.10 per $1000
  • Less than $500: No additional fee
  • Maps, PUDs, and Oversized Documents
    • Documents larger than legal size are considered oversized. Adams County does not accept documents larger than 18” x 24” for recording
  • First page of each document $13; each additional page $10
  • UCC Financing Statement – Paper Recording 1-2 pages: $13
  • 3+ pages: $18
  • Federal Tax Documents, unlimited pages: $8

Marriage Licenses
In accordance with Colorado Governor Polis' executive order, Adams County will be issuing marriage licenses without requiring at least one person to be in person during the time the county is closed to the public. 

Please follow these steps to obtain a marriage license:

  • Fill out the online application
  • Once your application is complete, send an email to adams.recording@adcogov.org to set up a phone appointment to issue your license. You will need to have the following ready before your appointment:
    • ​Credit card payment to process over the phone
    • Copies or photos of IDs—front and back—ready to email to an encrypted email inbox
